We start our night at around 11.30 after Mrs Lagsoman finishes work. We go to Rum ba bar a typical Portuguese snack bar but at only 1.45 euro for a large beer must be the cheapest in the city centre (yes lagos is a city but a small one) This bar is next to the more expensive Terepia so sit here and take in the comings and goings of Lagos youth. I wonder how long it will be until the owners of this place realise what position they are in and put the prices up.
Next up 9 Lives, I want this bar to be successful but as usual for this corner if what ever name it is this year its very quiet except for the music which is over loud anyway we had a round and Mrs L got her favourite drink which a number of bars try to pass off cheaper versions, so a bonus point to them.
Next door to Whytes a quick shot here B52s as it is packed although downstairs is now open and most people are outside. Andy and Denise run a LAGOS LEGEND
Short walk to the Camel and doing OK for a bar in the back street Music good and reasonable prices. I also really hope this bar as 9 Lives survives.
We down to the main street Rua Abril 25th newly relaid and now traffic free adds to the drinking area it has become plenty outside space now. We decide to come back later and move off to DCs.
We get to DCs and there is only two people at the bar quick shot and out. I don't know what is right about this bar maybe the fact the owners are never there and leave to to staff who cant be bothered.
Over the road to the 3 Monkeys not that busy as you can get to the bar easily. Its seems they like to party like its 1978 and in the film Animal House see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_House,
Aussie/Americans stripped to the waist hitting and grabbing each other so homo erotic. But the usual great friendly service and well Jimmy another LAGOS LEGEND
Next door is the Jam like what they have done here simple design graphics on the walls classic rock music at the time of visit. They have a innovative daytime promotion where you can challenge the bar staff and win a free drink. Well my challenge is when a customer orders three drinks add it up right and don't inflate your prices overcharged by 3 euros, you might get away with it from tourists but they wont come back.
Old Tavern good quality drinks here no cheap house stuff sold. Retro music and another LAGOS LEGEND in the owner Marilyn a slight mad but lovely woman.
around the corner to Inside out back open till 4am again 'slap on the wrist then' not as busy as usual quick service and the ever smiling Daniella and good place to go. But one drink only as its back to the main street.
Its packed every bar that is except Stones so we buy a drink there and go outside to mingle. I think the problem with Stones is the music now I love heavy rock, but a lot don't they want party music this time of night, just look to Zanzibar or eddies next door both playing rock music but lighter and sing along stuff. We went to Zanzibar next for a drink but still went back outside where the craic! and most people are.
Finished the night off at the Lounge a friend went in so we followed. I have reviewed this place before I don't wear the correct fashion or appreciate DJs playing premixed stuff. So I think its time for home via Meditreano now open till 4 selling very tasty kebabs and a taxi and we spent only 60 euros.................................................
